Bargaining Unit Parent Survey
This survey will help us determine how strongly our members feel about whether or not the district should grant them employee preference for placing their children at particular SFUSD school site.
- 28% of the respondents requested that their children be assigned to their worksite.
- 40.9% received their requested school assignment for their child
- 86.4% said they would place their children in a non-SFUSD setting if they did not get their requested placement.
Student Discipline Survey
How much a part of your teaching day is taken up by discipline problems? Have you been adequately trained to deal with discipline? Is a system in place at your school to deal with discipline?
- Interruptions: 25% said they had behavior/discipline-related interruptions more than 20 times each day. 2.5% had none. 37.5% had 1-5 interruptions. 7.5% had 11-15. 2.5% had 16-20.
- Time spent: 40% spent more than 15 minutes each day on discipline or behavior interruptions. 40% spent from 1-5 minutes. 12.5% spent 6-10 minutes. 7.5% spent less than a minute .
- Legal awareness: 22.5% said they were aware of legal requirements affecting student discipline. 60% were somewhat aware. 17.5% said they were not aware.
- 25% had filed a police report as a result of student behavior.
- 90% said the rules and consequences were clearly explained, posted and distributed in their classes
- 75% said their school site had a system to assist in dealing with disruptions
- 35% felt the 'system' had an impact on changing student behavior; 57.5% said it did not.
- 97.4% felt that specialized attention from special conselors, psychologists, social workers, law enforcement personnel and othher professional trained persons was needed.
Weighted Student Formula/School Site Council Survey
Of 96 respondents who took UESF’s online survey last month about Weighted Student Formula:
- 60.7% did not want to support WSF.
- 72.7% support SSC structure for site-based decision making.
- 92.6% said SSC were functioning at their sites.
- 53.6% said the budget was clear enough to make informed decisions
- 46.4% said it was not.
- 61.1% saw SSC decisions as advisory.
- 38.9% thought they were final.
- 80.9% did not know how to challenge or report an SSC procedural or decision irregularity.
