Scholarships for UESF Members & Their Dependents

California Federation of Teachers

The CFT offers the Raoul Teilhet Scholarships for dependents of UESF members graduating high school or in college ($3,000 for four-year courses and $1,000 for two-year courses).

High School student applications are due January 10, 2012. Continuing college students, July 1st.

California Teachers Association

Up to 35 CTA scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each are available to dependent children of active, retired, or deceased CTA members. In addition, the highest-scoring applicant is awarded the Ralph J. Flynn Memorial Scholarship.

The CTA also offers up to five scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to current CTA members completing college coursework. Both scholarships are due February 3, 2012.

American Federation of Teachers

The AFT offers the Robert G. Potter Scholarship Program - $8,000 scholarships available to graduating high school seniors that are dependents of UESF members. A $1,000 grant is also available for UESF members who are continuing their education. Both are due on March 31, 2012.

AFL-CIO

Through the Union Plus Scholarship Program the AFL-CIO offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $4000 to union members, their spouses, and their dependents who are enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education. Scholarships are also available to graduate students. Applications are due on January 31, 2012.
