On May 1st UESF members are encouraged to take part in May Day actions and events at their school sites, joining the collective stand the Bay Area will take on this historic day in support of immigrant and workers rights. We are currently collecting resources to use at school sites and encourage all to attend the UESF-specific gathering at 4:00 p.m. in Civic Center.
UESF members who are taking the day off to protest on May Day are encouraged to march under the UESF banner at the protests planned by the Bay Area Resistance, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Justin Herman Plaza.
UESF has no formal position on walkouts planned for that day. We will, however, provide contractual, professional, and legal support for those members who peacefully engage in demonstrations. If students at your site are planning to participate in a walkout, you are urged to work with them, their families, and site administration to develop joint plans of action that provide for supervision and safety of all students.
