UESF to China: An Emerging Labor Movement?

I find this pleasant young guy at an independent little coffee and snack stand. It takes a few minutes but I walk away with a half-decent cappuccino and yet more questions about China’s future. This kid will inherit the results of China’s bullet train into the corporate market place. Born and raised in the labor movement, I know that his life will improve greatly if he can work in a nation where a real union can represent his interests. The question remains though: Will President Hu Jintao’s “harmonious society” honor labor and this young man’s future by allowing unions to emerge in a more free and more democratic China?
