Prop A – The Quality Teacher and Education Act

Volunteer to Help Pass Proposition A

You can do your part to help pass Proposition A by coordinating with colleagues at your school site to choose a night to phonebank and a day to precinct walk. Our goal is to have each school site sign up for at least one phonebank night and one precinct walk day. Details below:

Phone Bank

Every week UESF will run a phonebank Monday-Thursday through the June 3rd election day. Each phonebank will take place at the UESF office (2310 Mason St. [map]) from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided.

Please call UESF Political Director Ken Tray at 956-8373 or email ktray@uesf.org to sign up.

Neighborhood Precinct Walk

Join Our First Precinct Walk for Proposition A
- Saturday, April 5
Every Saturday through June 3rd UESF will hold a neighborhood precinct walk. We will meet at Civic Center Secondary School (727 Golden Gate Ave. [map] – Parking from McAllister St.) at 9:30 a.m. and fan out to targeted neighborhoods throughout the city. The walks will generally last until approximately 1:00 p.m.

Don’t worry if you’ve never participated in a neighborhood walk. Strong coffee, a light breakfast, and training will help get you up to speed.

Bring your co-workers and parents from your school.

Contact Ken Tray to Tray at 956-8373 or email ktray@uesf.org to sign up.

UESF members get an early start on Quality Teacher and Education Act campaign.

Over 75 Attend QTEA Site Coordinator Training

On February 27th, over 75 UESF members attended our first QTEA Site Coordinator Training. At the training, we discussed our game plan to victory on June 3rd and distributed QTEA Campaign Toolkits to all in attendance.

UESF members volunteer for the QTEA campaign on February 27th. Sign an online pledge card here.

In the first step in our campaign, we are reaching out directly to all UESF members, asking for your commitment to phone bank, participate in neighborhood walks, and to pass out literature to parents. We also ask that you identify civic, community, and religious groups that you are active in and would volunteer to contact regarding the campaign. Such outreach will begin in earnest in mid-March, and is essential to the campaign.

This information is being gathered in the form of pledge cards, which were distributed along with the tool kits last night. You may also go here to fill out an online version of the pledge card.

UESF Area Representatives are now contacting members at schools that were not represented at the training in order to distribute the QEIA Campaign Tool Kits. Talk to your Building Representative to find out if your school has received the information. You may also call the UESF office at 956-8373.

Please return the cards for your school to UESF by March 11, 2008.
